VAMS Advance Provider Tactical Medicine K9 Course is designed to meet the needs of pre-hospital providers supporting K9 operations, or providers serving in an area with the potential for an encounter with a sick or wounded K9. This course also supports the educational needs of providers that provided direct care to operational K9s in support of SAR and USAR operations

As K9 operations increase, the probability that Pre-Hosptial Providers may encounter a K9 patient has grown expediently over the past decade. providers today need to understand the importance of having the ability manage a sick or a traumatically injured K9.

K-9 HANDLER TACTICAL OPERATIONAL MEDICINE COURSE

VAMS students will participate in training that encompasses the 3 phases of Tactical Combat Casualty care recommend by the Co TCCC for operating and supporting K9 tactical operations. Students will learn many of the same topics and concepts as our TMK9 course and in addition K9 pathophysiology and appropriate medical treatment modalities that support our efforts to save a dogs life. With basic and advance medical education, skills and training experience, the chances of a sick or wounded K9 survival is greatly improved as it is with humans.
